Professional Advisory Development Board

 

 

The Construction Management Professional Advisory Development Board (CM PADB) was established on January 1, 2000 to support and promote the Construction Management program at Colorado State University.

The CM PADB is extending memberships to five (5) types:

  1. Individual
    Many alumni participate as individual members which provide the foundation of the CM PADB.
  2. Corporate
    Corporate members have priority to the various events and recruiting activities the Department sponsors.
  3. Partner
    Partner members are corporate members who, in addition to priority access to various Department events and recruiting activities, also have unlimited participation in the Phelps Internship Placement Program without any associated sponsorship fees for that calendar year.
  4. Association
    Association members are representatives of various professional associations.
  5. Emeritus
    Emeritus members are retired senior construction executives who wish to participate in the CM PADB.

MISSION

The Department of Construction Management at Colorado State University is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service in and for the construction industry. The objectives and purposes of the CM PADB are to:

  1. Promote and improve the construction profession by education and development of a body of construction knowledge.
  2. Advance and support the highest quality faculty, educational facilities, and undergraduate and graduate programs for the students enrolled in the Construction Management major.
  3. Provide liaison between the construction industry and the Department.
  4. Develop and implement innovative programs which will benefit the Department and the construction industry.
  5. Through the active participation of the construction industry, the CM PADB shall offer advice, counsel, and provide vision for the Department.

MEMBERSHIPS

The CM PADB shall consist of individuals and construction-related industries. Membership terms will be for one calendar year beginning on January 1st and membership benefits will apply to that calendar year.

Individual Membership:   $100.00

Any individual who has an interest in supporting the Construction Management program at Colorado State University.

Memberships include: membership plaque, listing on Department website, one (1) copy of Graduate Resume Book each semester, early invitation to Student Club and Department events and recruiting activities, and invitation to bi-annual CM PADB meetings with student socials.

Corporate Memberships:   $1000.00

Any corporation that participates is entitled to designate a representative or multiple representatives of the corporation to participate in the activities of the CM PADB.

Memberships include: company membership plaque, listing on Department website with link, copies of the Graduate Resume Book each semester as requested, early invitation to Student Club and Department events and recruiting activities, complimentary attendance to one of the bi-annual Construction Management Career Fairs (registration required), and invitation to bi-annual CM PADB meetings with student socials.

Partner Memberships:   $2500.00

Any corporation that participates is entitled to designate a representatives or multiple representatives of the corporation to participate in the activities of the CM PADB.

Memberships include: all those of the Corporate Memberships, with the additional benefit of unlimited hires of Construction Management interns (as part of the Phelps Internship Placement Program) for that calendar year.

Association Memberships: Complimentary

The Advisory Board Chair may invite individuals representing professional associations to sit on the CM PADB. Association members, in deference to the other significant contributions to the Construction Management program, are not required to pay annual membership dues.

Memberships include: all those of Individual Memberships.

Emeritus Memberships: Complimentary

The Advisory Board Chair may invite individuals as emeritus members to the CM PADB. Emeritus members will be senior constructors who have distinguished themselves in some aspect of construction and are not required to pay annual membership dues.

Memberships include: all those of Individual Memberships.

MEETINGS
The CM PADB will meet twice a year on the Colorado State University campus—once in the Fall and once in the Spring. Dates for these meetings will be set well in advance by the Advisory Board Chair, and notice will be provided to all members at least 30 days before each meeting. Additional sub-committee meetings will be held, as necessary, throughout the year.

BENEFITS OF CORPORATE AND PARTNER MEMBERSHIPS: CORPORATE and PARTNER corporations will be entitled to the following benefits:

  1. The opportunity to have multiple corporate representatives impact the Construction Management programs (undergraduate and graduate).
  2. The opportunity to participate in research and study activities of graduate students and faculty and to receive the work product of these activities.
  3. Preferential consideration for work experience and internship hires.
  4. Copies of the Graduate Resume Book of those students scheduled to graduate in each of the May/August and December classes. These Resume Books will enable firms to do targeted recruiting.
  5. Early invitation and “no charge” participation in the one of the bi-annual Construction Management Career Fairs which provides an opportunity for corporations to meet students, discuss their corporation, and conduct employment interviews (a $300 value).
  6. For PARTNER MEMBERS, unlimited hires of Construction Management interns without associated sponsorship fees during that calendar year (a value of $500 or $1,000 each hire).
