Architectural
Preservation Institute (API)
The Architectural Preservation Institute (API)
is committed to promoting excellence in the implementation of historic preservation
related projects. As historic preservation has gained prominence in the policy
objectives of an increasing number and variety of private and public sector decision
makers, the demand for effective management techniques and well trained managers
has increased.
Institute
for the Built Environment
The Institute for the Built Environment (IBE)
has been fulfilling its commitment to fostering a sustainable built environment
through its work on the Poudre School District's high performance school initiative.
IBE researches and recommends sustainable and high performance building materials
that are appropriate for use in school environments. IBE is also assisting the
Poudre School District in working to achieve LEED certification for a new high
school. LEED is a high performance building rating system administered by the
US Green Building Council (www.usgbc.org)
IBE is coordinating the sustainable
renovations of classrooms in Guggenheim Hall. Begun as a class project, this
project is notable for its student, faculty and staff involvement. IBE has considered
appropriate lighting, acoustics, comfort, health and technology to creat positive
teaching and learning environments that are also ecologically
and socially responsible.
Interior West Center for the Innovative Use of Small Diameter Wood
The Interior West Center (IWC) strives to establish a market-responsive commitment
in the construction industry to the ecological health of the region’s forests
and the economic vitality of impacted communities. "Forest (Re)Building:
Building for the Forest, with the Forest" is IWC's central research program.
National
Center for Vehicle Emission Control and Safety
The National Center for Vehicle Emissions Control and
Safety (NCVECS), at Colorado State University, was established in 1976 by the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). NCVECS was originally established
to assist states across the nation in developing their vehicle emissions control
programs. The Center's research and training efforts have grown beyond the original
EPA mandate.
Rural Education Assistance Program (REAP)
The Rural Education Assistance Program (REAP)
is an outreach and service project located in the Department of Construction
Management. The REAP program is designed to assist rural Local Educational
Agencies (LEA's) such as school districts and county educational agencies
with expert assistance in the design and planning of building surveys,
renovation, restoration and school facility enhancement projects. The REAP
program provides objective assistance to schools and districts in developing
strategic plans for Mill Levy's and managing construction projects.Technology
Education Research and Development Laboratory
The Technology Education Research and Development
Laboratory is a cooperatively funded and equipped laboratory between the
Paxton/Patterson, Inc. and Jeld-Wen, Inc. family of companies and Colorado
State University. The research partnership is designed to develop, test,
and evaluate leading edge technologies that can be transferred into classrooms
to enhance technological literacy and capability in American youth. The
laboratory faculty works closely with schools and school districts across
the nation to enhance instruction in technology studies through workshops
and in-service seminars.
