Application Requirements

Students are admitted once a year to start in the Fall Semester. The application deadline is February 15 for the following Fall.  The class will be limited to 20-25 students.


PREREQUISITE COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Construction management candidates from disciplines other than baccalaureate construction programs will be required to either have or be willing to gain, a basic knowledge in the following areas:

  • Construction Engineering (CON 359)
  • Mechanical and Plumbing Systems (CON 260)
  • Construction Materials and Methods (CON 151 & CON 351)
  • Plan Reading, Estimating and Scheduling (CON 265, CON 365 & CON 461)
  • Construction Contracts and Project Administration (CON 367)



Prerequisite requirements may be satisfied/waived through successful participation in the Construction Management Prerequisite Program, and/or by transferable resident course work, as approved by the graduate program coordinator.

Prerequisite course work may not be used towards M.S. degree credit requirements.


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The following are the minimum requirements for admission to our program.

  • A four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale). Occasional exceptions may be made if applicant demonstrates ability to successfully complete graduate-level work.  Applicants also may be eligible for a Track II admission, based on professional experience in the industry.  Refer to the Graduate and Professional Bulletin for further details. 
  • The GRE is not required for U.S. applicants.

ADVISING
Once you receive notification of formal admission, contact Dr. Angela Guggemos, Graduate Program Coordinator, for advising. Dr. Khattab can be reached at (970) 491-0542 or via email at guggemos@cahs.colostate.edu. Dr. Guggemos will assist you in investigating research interests, potential committee members and permanent adviser options.  Once research interests are considered you will select your permanent advisor, who also serves as chairperson of your graduate committee.  You must notify the Department in writing once your permanent advisor has been selected. ORIENTATION
A graduate student orientation is held by the Department each fall semester.  All newly admitted graduate students are required to attend during the first fall semester enrolled.  The Graduate School also conducts a Graduate Student Orientation each fall and will contact you directly regarding the schedule. 
 


REGISTRATION
Once you have established your eID, you can access the registration system at http://rampoint.colostate.edu/cp/home/loginf.  Once logged in, access the AIRES tab and follow the link to “Class Schedule”.
