Tracks Explained

The conference is divided into seven sessions with five tracks per session. Participants are free to attend the sessions of their choice.

Track 1: Maintenance and Equipment

Maintaining asphalt pavements and the latest on maintenance activities and equipment will be the feature of this track. Sessions will include mat defects, urban paving, “War on Potholes,” innovations on maintenance, as well as the return of a traditional “Round Table Discussion with the Experts” on maintenance. Once again, the outside demonstration for this track will be located on a nearby City of Aurora street with maintenance applications being demonstrated.

Track 2: Construction and Equipment

This session is designed for those who are in the field inspecting and constructing asphalt pavements. This will benefit anyone interested in topics surrounding safety, paving foreman training, asphalt plants, milling practices, and compaction. Two key returning speakers for this track are John Ball and Chuck Deahl, who you will not want to miss. Once again this track will include a tour of a nearby modern hot mix asphalt production plant.

Track 3: Materials, New Technology and Research

Those who are responsible for material quality control/quality assurance or those who are interested in how new material control technology is improving asphalt pavements through research will benefit from attending these sessions. Topics include warm mix asphalt, perpetual pavements, pavement rehabilitation, reclaimed asphalt pavement, subgrade stabilization, and the popular “CSI Forensics.”

Track 4: Managing of People, Projects, and Programs

The sessions in this track are designed for those who manage people, projects, and pavements. Anyone wishing to improve on the various aspects of project management in the areas of pavement management, airport improvements, hot mix asphalt, noise, negotiations, and interviews, are sure to benefit.

Track 5: Education Training Sessions (101 through 107)

The educational training sessions are developed for those who are new to the asphalt pavement industry or who need a refresher on a number of key aspects of quality asphalt pavements. These sessions are ideal for developing the fundamental skill to properly design, inspect, construct and test asphalt pavements, as well as equipment maintenance and operation.
